Everyone Needs a Relaxing Weekend!

I mentioned before I am really listening to my body when it comes to my running/training. If I am extremely tired and sore then I am taking the day off. Well this weekend I woke up late and super tired both days so I decided to enjoy the weekend with my hubby instead. After work on Friday I was spent from the week. I was looking forward to put my feet up and mellow out after my 12.5 hour shift.

It all started with a beer...the beginning of my weekend that is. I don't drink that often these days and quite honestly I don't miss it. I say this but next weekend I am going to a beer festival in LA. Hah! So there will be some booze consumption there. After all I can't let my ticket go to waste cause that would be unheard of.

On Saturday the hubby and I ventured out of our city and went to Exeter, CA. For those that don't know, I live in pretty much the armpit of California. Exeter is a tiny little town about an hour from where we live. It is known for their antique shops and murals.

They actually had a Fall Festival and a Car Show that day so it was a great outing. While there we met up with our friends and their two adorable sons. Now I don't know anything about cars, but I sure do appreciate them. They were all classics and absolutely beautiful.  Owning a classic car is one expensive hobby though. All the maintenance, all the labor...but you can clearly see people's hard work displayed for all to see.

Probably the cutest little BMW

I loved this truck!

The boys really liked looking under the hood. All that power!

After church today I had to stop by a local fabric/craft store, head to a friend's birthday party, watch my Chargers, and then cook something for dinner. I started crafting as soon as I got home and did some pretty crafty center pieces for a baby shower. I was pretty impressed with how they came out. The theme is Dr Seuss...she is having twins!!

The greatest thing that happened today was that my husband actually cooked dinner! We used to share that responsibility but recently it has been all me. Props to the hubby for showing his chef skills in making a delicious dinner.

He made a chicken rice bowl. He marinated the chicken with lime, oregano, cumin, salt, pepper, fresh minced garlic, and olive oil for 30 minutes. The rice was leftover rice mixed with cilantro, and onion. It kind of reminded me of the Chipotle rice. He sprinkled a bit more lime marinated cilantro to give it extra flavor.

Tomorrow I get back at it at the gym.  Bright eyed and bushy tailed at 5am before work. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

What was the best thing you did this weekend?
