Hello October! New Month...New Goals


Wow this month just creeped up on me! So many great things start in October. For one I have a ton of birthday friends this month. I don't know why but all October birthdays seem to celebrate all month versus just one day.  My hubby and I get to go out of town...thank goodness! I have been having cabin fever staying in this city. It will only be a quick trip down to LA but still get to leave Fresno for a bit and visit our good friends. And at the end of the month I get to start training again for my first race next year in January.  The weather gets cooler and my wardrobe changes. Yep...hello October! I've been patiently waiting for you.


My day started off with a morning workout class...Zumba.  It had been about two weeks since I had come to class and boy did I feel it. I was struggling by the end of the class but I survived. The best thing about this class is that I actually take the class with some of my friends from work.  It makes the class so much more entertaining.  Also the instructor is awesome. She used to be overweight and then lost a ton of weight and is now teaching multiple Zumba classes. Her transformation along with her positive attitude make the class fun.

I usually like to workout for a bit longer after Zumba class but my legs felt like jello. I headed to the sauna to stretch, sweat a little more, and then made the executive decision that I needed a pedicure. 


The poor lady...she not only looked at my feet and frowned but had to say out loud how ugly my feet were. Haha! Who knows what else she told her other co-workers.  I obviously don't speak their language. I hate having to explain my feet to people. I am a runner...my feet are not pretty. These feet have logged in a ton of miles throughout the years and I don't foresee that changing.



Now on to my new monthly goals:



Recipes:
I want to continue making and trying new recipes. I actually tried a new one today for dinner but won't post until tomorrow. I've received great feedback from new followers and friends about my recipes. Maybe I'll try new salads, breakfast options, and new desserts.  The options are endless!

Juicing:
I have a great juicer and this week I started using it again. When we first got it I was juicing everyday for like two years straight.  We went on a bit of a hiatus recently. I think it was partly because we got in a juicing rut. We didn't change things up so the juices just became redundant.  Hoping to start it up again this month. I felt great when I juiced. I had a ton of energy and my skin was amazing. Probably won't juice everyday again but will try to do it a few times a week.

Half Marathon Training:
Last month I started to increase mileage again since my last race in July. At the end of this month I get to fully start training for my next half marathon in January. I am going to follow a 12 week training program in order to prevent injuries. Next year my ultimate goal is to run a race every month. This all sounds great right now but we'll see how it goes. 

Cross-Training:
Cross-training is very important for runners. I am going to try new classes or more HIIT circuits. Definitely going to continue my Zumba but I think I am going to start cycling again. Spin classes are such a great workout. My legs always feel like jello and I am pouring in sweat after a class. 

Reading:
I love blogging. It has been such an amazing experience so far, but since I started a few months ago I have neglected my reading. I really need to pick up where I left off in my book. Plus I have a few others that I would like to read before the end of the year.

  1. I am reading a memoir called "A Million Little Pieces." It's about a drug and alcoholic addict going through rehab and his survival to stay clean. Pretty interesting. Are you reading anything?
