Greetings from Las Vegas!

Hellooooo Las Vegas! Finally! It's only taken me 31 years to get here but I am here. I'll be here for the next five days and four nights. I wish I could say that I am really excited to be here but I have mixed feelings. Not only did I travel over here by myself but I am also here for a Respiratory Conference. I always figured the first time I would come to Vegas would be to party and let loose. Instead I am here to learn and educate myself in my profession. Crazy how old I feel right now!

The AARC Conference is actually like the Super Bowl for Respiratory Therapists. People from all over the world come to this event. The conference consists of:
  • 300+ original research projects
  • 140+ speakers
  • 238+ sessions on current respiratory care topics
  • 31/2 days of networking and education
  • 3 days of exhibits with all companies in the industry
  • 21+ CRCE credits
Like I said I feel old since I am actually really excited to hear these speakers. There are some co-workers that will be here as well but I have made no plans to really meet up with them except for maybe one. We shall see how my week goes. I am known for traveling alone to international third world countries. I think I can handle Vegas.

The conference is at the Mandalay Bay but staying there was too much for me since I am staying by myself. So I chose The Excalibur. It was really affordable and it has a walkway that connects to the Mandalay Bay. So far I can't complain. Honestly as long as I have a clean shower, a comfy bed and free internet I am a happy girl.

I've already gotten a few tips from some friends of places to check out. Not really sure how much time I'll really have since the conference is all day for three of the four days. But I am keeping a mental note of everything.  Oh and I have already gambled! Yep I gambled a whole $5 bucks. I lost it all in about 20 minutes but I did get a margarita drink out of it.  So technically I won since even happy hour margarita prices are $7 bucks here! It really is the little things that make me happy.

Any tips for a newbie to Vegas?
Shows I must check out?
