Friday Five: 5 Places to Visit in California

Happy Friday! Let's talk travel since that is a passion of mine. I have been blessed to travel to many places in the US and the world. But let's be honest here, California has pretty much everything you want to see. I am lucky to call this my home state. If you are into the mountains, snow, urban cities, beaches, wine country, hiking, the arts, etc. then California is a perfect place for you to visit. No I am not sponsoring this post. I just truly think California has something for everyone. Now there are so many places to visit but here are some of my favorite places to visit and explore:

YOSEMITE

This place is absolutely breathtaking! It used to be in my own back yard when I lived in Fresno, and I'll admit I took it for granted. That's why I needed to get in one last trip before we moved. If you are into beautiful scenery, great hikes, mountain biking, snow shoeing, horse back riding, or just wanting to get away from the city, then Yosemite is a great getaway. You can tent camp, drive in with your RV, or stay in the beautiful hotels in the National Park.

THE CITY: SAN FRANCISCO

I am absolutely in LOVE with San Francisco! I remember coming to visit for the first time when I was in college and I was overwhelmed with the diversity that this city has to offer. Honestly the entire Bay Area is awesome when it comes to diversity. The food is delicious; the music scene is different in a good way; they have great shows to see; the multitude of shopping options; and the sporting events make this a vibrant and exciting city to visit. I purposely try to run a race there once a year to have an excuse to visit the city.

WINE COUNTRY: NAPA, SONOMA, PASO ROBLES

If you are into wine then California has plenty of options for you! Not only does it have the city of Napa, but they also have Sonoma and The Central Coast that is booming with wineries. I've been to many wineries but I am still partial to Paso Robles mostly because I lived in San Luis Obispo for six years and have great memories wine tasting there. The wineries there are also not pretentious like others I've been too. They are very laid back and really love their products. I will say this though, Napa has a very special place in my heart since it happens to be where my husband proposed to me.

CALIFORNIA BEACHES

All throughout the California coast you'll find beautiful beaches. Living in San Diego now, I am more partial to my beaches here. Honestly though, you can find a relaxing beach just about anywhere here. From boardwalks to piers, these beaches provide serene sunsets and long lasting memories.

BIG SUR

From the beautiful Redwoods to the amazing ocean views, Big Sur is another treasure to visit and explore. You can do anything from one day hiking trips to staying at a peaceful spa nestled in the mountains. I came here once during college and told myself I needed to come back again. The goal was for me to come back again this year, but I am a lot further from it than I used to be.

    1. That is a downfall! I love to travel but I also know I need money to get to places so I have to work. I envy those people that can just work for a few months, then travel for months.
