Things I Am Loving Lately

I know many people are thrilled it's Friday, but for me it's really my Monday. I'll be working all weekend..BOOO! Actually since it is a holiday weekend, I am hoping it will be very mellow at work. I am probably jinxing myself by saying this though!  While many of you will be enjoying the end of the summer, I'll be taking care of the sick of the sick.

Anyways I am not going to feel sorry for myself for having to work this holiday weekend. I am going to count my blessings and be grateful that I have a wonderful job that I truly love. I am going to appreciate all the wonderful things that are happening in my life.  In the end it is the little things that matter the most.  As this summer is coming to an end, let me share the things I am loving lately:

Watermelon: Since summer is almost out the door, so are the watermelons. I have been trying to eat as many as I can until they are gone for the season. This last one was still sweet but not sure if I can say the same for the next one. I buy mine at Costco since they seem to have the biggest ones.

Tacos Perla: Can I just tell you, I am absolutely obsessed with Tacos Perla. It is a really good taco shop in the North Park area in San Diego. You can order online, call in your order, or eat in. The home made tortillas are (what I think) make the tacos so good. They also have really good home made salsas varying in hotness.

Beach Running: I am loving this summer in San Diego. I have been trying to run as many times by the beach as I possibly can. Only problem is that I have gotten really dark (even with wearing sunscreen).  The views just never get old though! I am truly blessed living in this gorgeous city.

My Friends: My hubby and I are having such a great time with our friends this summer. A few have already come and visited us in San Diego. We've gone to baseball games, beer/wine festivals, dinners, beach trips, and brewery tasting. Since moving down, we knew it would be a big trip if people came to visit us. So it's been nice to know people are really trying.

Haircut/color Ideas: This month happens to be Childhood Cancer Awareness month and I made a promise to my niece that I would donate my hair. I have been growing out my hair for the past three years with the intention of donating it to Pantene Beautiful Lengths. Unfortunately she ended up passing from Lymphoma at the age of 14. I still fully intend on keeping my promise. I actually have my appointment for next week! I am super excited to do this in her memory.

My Husband: Working night shift has been tough. I am moody and irritable more than I would like to admit. My husband has been a gem through it all. This past week was my birthday and he brought me breakfast in bed. It's the little things that he does that makes me appreciate him.  I am one lucky lady to have a man by my side that is patient, understanding, and loves me unconditionally.

Craft Beer Tasting: Oh beer tasting has been so much fun! There are so many craft breweries in San Diego and I am having a blast trying new ones. There are a few that I have been dying to try so can't wait to check those out.

Fit Humor: I love Instagram because you can tell your life through pictures, memes, whatever your little heart desires. One of my favorite accounts is Run Eat Repeat because she is so hillarious. This post pretty much sums up how I feel about my summer body. Oh well, guess I was truly just getting prepared with winter.

High Waisted Skirts: I am in love with all of these! Been eyeing a bunch of these style skirts on Pinterest for inspiration. My husband told me I have to buy more "normal" clothes instead of workout clothes, so I made my first high waisted skirt purchase. I found one on Amazon (Urparcel Women High Waist Polyester Swing Pink Solid Pleated Skirt) almost identical to the right pink one. We shall see how it actually looks on me though. For the cost, I figured I'd take the chance.

Brooks Running Shoes: I am super excited to purchase my next running shoes. I was running in Brooks prior to my Hoka running shoes. Hoka worked fine for the race I was training for, but I missed my Brooks. Can't wait to get back on board. They are super comfy and lightweight, perfect for my messed up feet.

    1. Me too! San Diego is not one to have all the seasons but the cooler weather is always welcomed after our heat wave last week.

  6. What a beautiful place you have to run. I'm stuck on the Fish Tacos from at local Mex place. I have no idea why they taste so good. It's a wonderful thing you are doing by donating your hair to honor your niece.
