Running Confessions

Oh hello there! I know I have been MIA lately from the blogger world but if you follow me on Instagram, then you know I am very much alive and well. Life has been a bit chaotic lately for our household.  Work and training alone has been crazy for both my husband and I. Okay, my husband isn't training for anything but work for him has been EXTRA busy. Both him and I are also busy with something else that will hopefully end by the end of next month...maybe.  So here are few things that have been going on in my life along with a few running confessions:

1. I am still training for the San Diego Rock n Roll half marathon. It is going on in less than three weeks and I am getting really pumped. I know I said I would recap on how my training was going but I would forget and then I would just get lazy.

2.  I have done my last long run for my training and I am currently in taper mode. Let me tell you that it sucks! I don't like it one bit. I want to keep running more but I have to really listen to my training.  I have to warn my husband that I may be a little irritable from now until the race. Hopefully he understands! haha

3. I really want a new Garmin watch for my upcoming marathon in Chicago. I've been eyeing the Garmin 735XT and the Garmin Forerunner 235.  I just can't seem to decide.  Also, I can't justify getting a new one when mine works perfectly fine. It's just really old and I want something new. Darn you Garmin for making long, durable watches!

4. Speaking of watches...when you guys go out for a run do you stop your watch if you take breaks? I do. Of course during race day I never do, but during my training runs I will pause it if I stop to use the bathroom, to stretch, to drink some water, to take a picture, etc.

5. So lately I have been trying to beat the morning traffic and head out for my runs by 6AM. I drive to the beach/bay and without traffic it takes me about 20 minutes.  I know a lot of runners have coffee before their morning runs to get them going. I am just not one of those runners. I don't drink coffee since just the smell of it can trigger a migraine for me but I have gotten in the habit of drinking a pre-workout drink for that caffeine boost. It's not for everyone but it works for me.

6. I can't seem to stop getting blisters and it is really starting to annoy me. I used to never get blisters when I wore Mizuno Wave Riders but then they changed their shoe. Then the blisters just kept on coming. I have tried numerous other shoes and so far the Brooks Glycerin shoes have worked but once I run more than 8 miles they just pop up. I just bought new socks too to see if that helps. I am hoping to try them next week before my race. Wish me luck!

7. Sports Authority and Sports Chalet are both going out of business. My hubby and I both managed to get some good deals at Sports Authority with one of them being a really nice pair of Under Armour black compression pants for me. I knowingly bought a size smaller than what I usually wear as motivation. Sadly those pants may stay brand new for awhile! haha

8. I decided today that I am hoping to one day be able to wear shorts for a run without them riding up from my chub rub. I used to run in shorts. I even remember running a few half marathons with them on. A girl can dream right??

9. I decided to start doing some meal prepping. I am new to this so not really sure if I am doing it right. I am currently only doing it when I am doing a three night stretch at work. My hubby used to cook me something before I went to work my night shift, but with how crazy his schedule has been this has really helped out!

10. I've been running without my contacts lately so if you happen to see me watch out! I am already clumsy to begin so this isn't helping me at all. haha!

What's new with you?

  1. Sport Chalet started in my home town and it made me so sad to know they were closing :(

    1. Yeah I was bummed that both stores were closing but then I realized it had been years since I had gone to either store. I tend to buy a lot of my stuff online now.

  2. Running a marathon is not at all an easy task and the author is giving everyone a broad idea of what it is to compete in a marathon by running 8 miles during her training days. Moreover, the formation of blisters while running is a result of the shoes that you wear. Most runners use a shoe which fits just perfect that is neither too tight nor loose. Furthermore, the shoes must be aerated which will allow the constant flow of air into the shoes. Besides that, one must also follow a healthy diet which helps to a great extent in increasing the stamina which is vital for successful completion of the marathon.
