BlogFest 2018!

It's no surprise I have been MIA from blogging. Life with the little one has been a bit crazy but truth be told I have been lacking any type of motivation to write anything. The ideas and topics are there but I have been doubting myself. Mostly I have been feeling a bit of a failure when it comes to the fitness/running aspect of my life. I can list a million reasons why but honestly that might place me back in my slump and that's not where I want to be. Currently I am pumped and amped to start up again, why? Well I just went to IDEA World Fitness/BlogFest and it was exactly what I needed!

What is BlogFest? Well check out this website for a little more info but basically it's a two day conference within a four day convention for fitness minded individuals. Oh and it just so happens to be the largest convention in the world! You don't have to have a blog to attend but most of us do and are very much involved in all things fitness, nutrition, and self care. Blogfest is a two day event brought on by the beautiful and talented ladies from Sweat Pink/Fit Approach.

This year it was in my home town of San Diego so I had to check it out. No excuses! It was my first time attending so initially I was very intimidated in going. Due to my work/life schedule I was only able to attend one day but I still had so much fun. There were so many great speakers that really captivated my attention, so many delicious food samples that fed my belly, and so many great workouts that helped me break a sweat. Oh yes! Can't forget about all the free swag too! I came back home with so much stuff that my husband had to ask if all of it was free. I can go on and on about how amazing this conference was but I feel like you just have to attend it to see the magnitude that it truly is.
Since I was only able to attend one day I tried to squeeze in as much as I could and because of that I barely took any pictures. I guess that just means I was truly soaking every thing in! I know there are going to be a ton of reviews on this conference and that's great but rather than bore you with another review I'll just end this post by saying this:

"Be unapologetically you!"

Probably the best message I got from Blogfest by Heidi Powell is to be true to myself and stop trying to be perfect. My life is busy, messy, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I am softer and rounder since having my baby and you know what? That's okay! Even though I may feel down about myself there may be others that still look up to me so why be so negative? I have to learn to embrace every aspect of my life because life is short. Surround yourself with likeminded people who truly support you and cheer you on during the highs and lows of life. That's what my Sweat Pink community is to me. We are a bunch of women who truly want each and every one of us to succeed. We don't pass judgment. I am so incredibly grateful for this community and the friendships it's brought into my life. I already can't wait for next year's Blogfest! So I'll sign off by showing you the very few pictures I was able to get during the conference. Have a great week everyone!

My Current Go-To-Protein Drink and Life Saver!

I swear my life is always on the go. I work nights full time and have an 8 month old so my life is pretty chaotic these days. Sure my husband helps but he also works full time so we're both stretched pretty thin these days. Since my life right now revolves around my work schedule and the baby's nap/feeding times, I have to look for snacks to eat through out the day that will keep me full and energized in between meals. Even before the baby I've always been a food grazer. In my purse or backpack you can always find some type of snack wether it's a protein bar/shake, fruits, veggies, etc. And if you know me then you know that when I get "hangry" watch out!

The last few weeks I've been trying out fizzique, a sparkling protein water drink right here from San Diego. Let me start off by saying it's been a life saver!  fizzique is the first of its kind. It's the only SPARKLING protein drink in the market right now. Unlike other protein drinks this one is not chalky at all and is super refreshing. Just a little tip too it tastes better if served cold. There are currently two flavors to choose from: Strawberry Watermelon and Tropical Limon. Personally I prefer the strawberry watermelon flavor but that's just my preference.

Here's why I love it so much. In one can it contains 20g of protein and only 80 calories. Crazy right? Well it's also keto friendly, gluten free, non GMO, contains 0 carbs, fat free and has just enough caffeine to give me that extra boost in the afternoons or in the early mornings when I'm at work. I've even drank fizzique post workouts.  Since I drink it right from the refrigerator it's nice and cold and just hits the right spot after a good sweat session. It’s the perfect grab-and-go option that helps satisfy hunger between meals. This drink is  a great (and mess free) healthy alternative to ordinary protein drinks and sugary protein bars.

Being a new working mom is hard enough so finding a good protein drink shouldn't be. Want to try them out for yourself? They sell them directly from their website or on Amazon (fizzique). If you purchase from their website you can use my code: DAISYFIZZIQUE for 10% off your first case. Let me know if you try them out!

Hello, It's Me Again!

Hi Guys! It's been awhile. Just a little recap since my last post: I completed the half marathon I trained for. It was not the best time but I finished and that was my main goal. I honestly didn't feel the race needed a recap since I knew what the outcome was going to be. I've ran this race over 10 times and it still ranks as one of my favorites. I'll be doing it again next year and I'll hopefully be gunning for a PR.

Life over here is full of love and laughter with our little one. She is hitting all her milestones and she is truly at such a fun stage. Although I love seeing her grow, it also makes me sad that she is growing too fast. I wish I could stop time for a bit so instead I'm trying to treasure all the moments.

I am back to working my two jobs (maternity leave officially over) and trying to find time to squeeze in some workouts here and there but that's been tough. Since the race I can probably count with one hand how many times I've actually ran. Instead I've been using Kayla Itsines Sweat app. Her workouts are tough and short (28 minutes) which is perfect with a baby. I am trying to gain back muscle I lost during the pregnancy but it's taking a bit longer than I thought it would. Oh well! The struggles with my postpartum body!

Hopefully I'll come back to blogging a bit more but like I said life is busy. You can always follow my postpartum fitness  journey on my Instagram account. Hope you guys had a great weekend!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

First and foremost, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I kind of took a hiatus from social media and running. Going back to work made it really hard to balance everything so I chose to make my family my main priority during the holidays. Since this was our very first Christmas with our little blessing we wanted to soak it all in. I don't regret it one bit.

I didn't see the point in blogging about my lack of running so I just decided to take a break all together from it and even avoided social media. Sometimes the body needs those breaks to rest and to truly appreciate the sport. I did get a few runs here and there but it really wasn't anything special. I ended the year with a 5K around my sister in law's neighborhood and I felt pretty good about my decision to put family first.

My race kind of crept up on me...it's this weekend!  Instead of feeling nervous about it, I am looking forward to completing this goal of mine. I never wanted this race to be a PR. I just wanted to prove to myself that I could accomplish this goal postpartum. After this race though I plan on taking a LONG break from racing. I may sign up for little runs here and there around town but that's it. I want to spend as much time with my little girl as I can and training just takes up that valuable time.
