About Me

So a little about me...

1. I was born in the USA, but raised in Mexico.  My father would wake my brother and I at the butt crack of dawn in order to cross the border. I appreciate the sacrifices he made in order for us to have an education.

2. I am left handed. This fact made it very difficult for me while I was in Nepal. Apparently the Nepali people wipe themselves with their left hand...so it is considered dirty. I had to switch for three weeks and it was torture.

3. I have two adorable labs. Their names are Kona (chocolate) and Guinness (black). Yes..they are named after beers. They currently are my only babies and I can't even picture my life without them. They bring so much joy into my life. Kona used to be my running buddy but after we got Guinness it got difficult to run two very active labs.

4. I am married to an amazing man that supports me and honors me. I thank God everyday that he placed him in my life. Honestly I still don't know why he stuck around, but forever grateful for all that we have done together and the many more adventures to follow. He proposed to me at a beautiful winery in Napa, CA.

5. My husband and I had a destination wedding...Cancun! It was better than we could have ever imagined. We were surrounded with 48 of our closest family and friends. I would highly recommend a destination wedding for anyone. It was the best option for us since I love to travel and it was hassle free. They did everything...if you have questions on destination weddings I would be more than happy to help you.

6. I like to set up my alarm for weird times. I never set it for times in increments of 5. Friends laugh whenever they learn my alarm goes off at 4:29am. I doubt this will ever change.

7. I enjoy photography. I purchased a really nice Nikon camera but I wish I took more pictures.  I try to never take it to my international travels since I fear of attracting to much attention to myself. I have a tiny Cannon digital camera for those travels.

8. I like to sleep on the left side of the bed.

9. The craziest job I ever had was an international phone operator. Gotta love college jobs! I've been a flower delivery girl, transcriber, receptionist, international phone operator, customer service for calling cards, dog walker, neurological technician, office manager, and even a temp. I am now a Respiratory Care Practitioner in a children's hospital. I love what I do, but it is very stressful and emotional.

10. I love sports. Favorite football team: San Diego Chargers #boltnation. Favorite baseball team: Boston Red Sox #redsoxnation.

11. I hope to one day go to at least one World Cup and one Summer Olympics. There are many other items on my bucket list but these are the ones that always pop up.

12.  I still only speak Spanish to my parents. My father said the greatest gift he could ever give me is our culture and heritage.

13. My house flooded a year after we purchased it. It was the most frustrating 6 months during our first year of marriage. During this time, I was also training for my first triathlon. I spent more time at the gym and Starbucks than my own home since my house was a mess.

14. Running is a passion of mine. I have been running on and off since I was in the 7th grade. I've ran a handful of marathons but dozens of half marathons.  I also enjoy cycling, kayaking, triathlons, Zumba, spin, hikes, swimming...basically anything that allows me to stay fit.

15. I am an open book...wanna know more? Email me at fitwanderlustrunner@gmail.com

  2. I'm also Hispanic so #12 made me smile. :) Although, I was born in El Salvador and came to Canada just after turning 8, I can still relate!

  3. I stumbled on your blog from HRG. The words wanderlust and runner piqued my interest. I also have grand plans of traveling the world, am a runner, and a respiratory therapist in a NICU. You definitely have a new follower.
